She was alone with specific hot flashes, but she was not alone in the world with them. After menopause set in she stopped speculating that he might be crazy.
Yet what could she have done but let him go? She dressed quickly and left the house, walked down the long drive to the gate, and stood at the entrance looking in both directions.
