Nobody knew why; that was his way. Etidluie stayed in Seekooseelak because he liked it here. It's not the name of one camp or place - all around Cape Dorset, that's Seekooseelak. It means 'no ice'; there is no ice at break-up. Other places have a great deal. Seekooseelak used to have many more animals than the Lake Harbour area. Many walrus. And more polar bears. To me it's always been best. 29 Nuvoojuak people. Two pictures taken by Peter Pitseolak when his dog team crossed those of Nuvoojuak people on their way to better hunting.
He was often tested. But in all his long life there was only one time when he was half afraid. He had found an old whale on the ground and the foxes were eating from it. He set up his camp by the whale and all night long he was catching foxes. Then, although the whale was frozen, he saw it breathe - he saw it breathing twice. He was almost afraid then but he went to his igloo and walked around because he was nervous. " So he stayed on and was no longer afraid. Etidluie was a good man to anyone who came around.

He had come home. He came from our side for sure. I do not know when Seekooseelak began to have people.
